Submit to the Magpie Chapbook!
Do you have a poem about or featuring magpies? Magpies are tough, resourceful, beautiful, a bit rough around the edges and a perfect symbol of Edmonton. Markus Eyman and the Stroll of Poets are curating a chapbook of magpie poems. We need about 15 to 20 poems and the chapbooks will be hand sewn. We will also need nimble-fingered volunteers, preferably from among the contributors, to help construct them. Contributors will each receive a free copy but the chapbooks will be a fundraiser for the Stroll of Poets.
Dead Poets’ Haven Returns!
Come, celebrate Halloween early at a very special Haven event…if you’re not afraid. Bring along a piece written by, or inspired by a dearly departed poet. The format will be entirely open mic.
Everyone is welcome Sun Oct 29th from 2-3:30pm at Audreys Books.
Remember, a good metaphor never truly dies and adjectives are forever!
On the Wing – 2017-18 Haven Season Launch!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No – it’s the Stroll’s new season swooping in!
Join the flock for On the Wing at the Upper Crust Café (10909 86 Ave) on September 18 at 7 pm. Bring a poem to read or just come to listen and find out what the Stroll is hatching for the coming months. (Hint: there may be magpies.)
Whatever branch of poetry you like to nest on—whether you’re a fledgling or a super-power poet—you’ll find a friendly community and birds of a feather at the Monday-evening Haven reading series. See you at the arrivals gate!
