Call for Facilitators – Deadline Extended

An afternoon workshop is being planned for October 29 on Getting Round the Writing Circle. Facilitators are required for two hour-long workshops: How to Critique/Receive Critique and How to Organize/Facilitate a Writing Circle.

The first would deal with providing constructive criticism and receiving it. The second would discuss setting guidelines and dealing with possible situations that could arise. Honorariums would be provided to facilitators.

Please submit a brief proposal and your credentials to strollquestions@gmail.com by October 14.

Welcome Back to Poets’ Haven

Greetings Strollers!

It’s a great time to be a Poet with the Edmonton Stroll of Poets because we are returning to in-person readings at the Upper Crust this Fall. The good folks at the Upper Crust Restaurant have welcomed us back, and we’re excited to welcome you all to our Haven Launch to take place on Monday, September 12, 2022!

We will be a’buzzing because it will be so good to see you all in person, but we want to assure you that we are committed to keeping everyone safe. Because we remain in Covid times, we will provide hand sanitizer and masks at the door, and we support the choices you make to keep yourself safe. If that means you will keep a physical distance, you choose not to hug or shake hands, or you choose not to sit too closely to others, we support your decisions.

We are inspired by your commitment to holding up our poetry community these past nearly three years by your steadfast attendance at “Haven at Home” on Zoom. Now that we are returning to Poets’ Haven at Upper Crust, we know that we can adjust to being in each others’ presence in a good way that ensures our comfort,  safety, and friendship.

See you at Poets’ Haven on Monday, September 12th at the Upper Crust Restaurant! Come early because the show starts at 7:00 pm!

Kindly,

The Poets’ Haven Committee
Janis Dow, John Leppard, Loren Marsden, Max Vandersteen, Naomi McIlwraith

“OUT OF THE BOX!” – HAVEN LAUNCH 2022!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our 2022/2023 Poets’ Haven Reading series. This year we are celebrating our long awaited return to in-person poetry at the Upper Crust Café.

Appropriately, our theme this year is “Out of the Box!” We have all felt contained by the experiences of the past couple of years and the restrictions the pandemic has placed on us. Here is a chance to express the joy of being out of your various boxes, bubbles or other metaphorical containers.

Please join us on Monday, September 12, 7 pm at the Upper Crust Café. The format will be open mic with sign up taking place that night. The cost is still a very reasonable $5.

Hope to see you there as we celebrate being “Out of the Box!”
